Figuring out the best way to wash your RV can take a little practice. If you’re not careful, you’ll end up with dirty streaks, cloudy windows, and a hazy coat of wax. To avoid all of this trial and error, you can read through our article below for easy, straightforward instructions on how to wash your camper.

Tools

While much bigger than a car, an RV generally requires the same cleaning tools: plenty of soft towels, a few buckets, and a gentle cleanser designed for vehicles.

We also advise having access to a hose or fresh source of water, since trying to wash your camper with buckets of water can be very time-consuming.

We also encourage you to steer clear of a pressure washer, as they can sometimes damage and scratch your finish.

Washing

Washing your RV can be a pretty difficult task! There’s a lot of area to cover, and you’ll need to move quickly to keep your RV from drying before you’re done with it.

We advise starting with the roof and using either a ladder or a telescopic brush.

Afterward, you can begin washing the perimeter of your camper in vertical columns. Start from the top then down to the bottom before moving to the next column as you work around your RV.

Waxing

Waxing an RV can be a bit tedious. However, it’s only required every six months or so in order to keep your rig looking shiny and new.

Before you start waxing your camper, you’ll need to first wash and dry it to make sure the sealant bonds correctly.

Once your RV is dry, move it out of direct sunlight before using a soft towel to apply the wax. Move in small two-foot sections around your rig till it’s completely covered. Using another small towel, move around the RV in the same direction, while buffing out the wax.
